There comes a point in every man’s life where he must choose when to become a man.
As we grow older, the concept of responsibility becomes ever more prevelant in our day-to-day lives.
Our careers, finances, and the well-being for ourselves and families all become equally deserving of our time and attention.
The process of boyhood to manhood is that of an initiation - it is something that must be practiced.
This means that no man can wake up one day and decide to be a man.
Instead, it is a matter if building oneself through acquiring skills, knowledge, and more responsibility.
The more that a man is able to focus on building himself is he then capable of making a full tranisition into manhood.
He must be willing to make mistakes, learn from them, and continue to perservere through hardship regardless of how he feels.
The initiation process is a long and oftentimes lonely road.
The reason why it may seem lonely is because men inherently know that nobody ever truly cares about how we feel.
We must do what is expected and what is required to continue on with our pursuits.
This does not go without mentioning that part of the masculine initiation process is increasing our threshold to withstand taking risks.
Risks will always have to be taken in order to move forward in anything that we do.
It doesn’t matter if we are tired, lonely, or afraid, learning how to manage our risk tolerance is part of the initiation process.
A man’s ability to protect and provide for his family comes when he has done his due diligence in building himself into a strong and capable man that is able to take risks and still push himself to become better.
We can’t stay little boys forever.
We must be willing to do the hard work regardless of how we feel, and continue to show up for ourselves and those who rely on us.
