A pack of wolves is one of the most feared and loyal group of predators of any living species on the planet.
Each wolf in a pack has a duty to uphold for a greater purpose of serving their pack.
Their undeniable loyalty is admirable from an outside perspective - if one wolf gets trapped by a predator, the rest of the pack fights to ward off the predator.
A tribe of warriors embodies much of the same values as a pack of wolves - they serve together, the fight together, they die together.
These values of the warrior are deeply rooted in our dire need of loyalty.
The warrior is one of the most loyal specimens to walk the earth.
Any man that is willing to give his life for the better of something greater than himself understands the true meaning of loyalty.
With that being said, the warrior that is willing to die for his tribe also needs to feel the same level of loyalty in which he is willing to give.
The need for loyalty is something deeply rooted in our nature, especially as warriors.
This is why the group of men that a man chooses to surround himself is one of the single most important choices he is going to make in his life.
The warrior-minded individuals resemble that of the driven (a topic we discussed in a recent post).
The driven are the hunter-gatherers, constantly in pursuit of something as a means of survival.
In primitive times, forming a tribe of like-minded warriors is how we were able to survive and ultimately evolve.
While we may no longer live in a dangerous primitive environment, driven-minded people still exist.
Through generations of evolution, the genetics associated with driven-minded warriors continue to get passed down, even in the modern world.
There are still those that feel an insatiable need to be in constant pursuit of something, much like our primitive ancestors.
In the modern world, the men that are the driven-minded warriors need to place themselves within a pack of other driven-minded warriors to feel like they belong.
There are those that grow comfortable, and there are those that continue to grow uncomfortable feeling like they never have enough.
Those that are driven will never feel like the belong in a pack that is comfortable.
The comfort lacks pursuit, it lacks drive, and the driven will always feel like they don’t belong when associated with a group that lacks the drive needed to be in pursuit of something greater.
Whenever you see a group of men doing hard things together, there is a special bond that is formed deep within the group.
When a group of men set out to pursue something of greater significance, their loyalty to the group and the mission is the binding force to keep the group together and propel them forward.
A perfect example of this would be a special forces team in the military - often tasked with difficult missions, they pursue each mission as a group with the main goal of returning everyone home safely.
In this case, the most fearsome warriors are all binded together by their unwavering loyalty to eachother and the mission - willing to risk their lives to protect their teammates and still carry on with their mission.
This is the path of the driven.
This is the path of the warrior.
The driven are always going to feel like they are different and like they don’t belong to what is considered to be “socially acceptable”.
Our constant need of pursuit towards something greater is always going to make us feel like we are outcasts, which is why it is so important to find other like-minded driven individuals.
Men work better when working with other hard working men serving a larger purpose.
It is in our nature.
It is what we are.
